The amber exhibition has been on display in Malbork Castle since 1965, featuring amber items from prehistoric artefacts to modern objects. Amazing 17th and 18th-century coffers, altars, cutlery, chandeliers, figurines and jewellery are all masterpieces of amber art from the times of the industry’s heyday. The exhibition is complemented by folk art, modern Polish design and raw amber specimens. It is Poland’s largest selection of natural amber nuggets and manufactured items and one of the most famous collections in the world. The exhibition is located in the basement of the east wing of the Middle Castle. The castle itself is a stronghold with a cubit capacity exceeding 250,000 m3. It is one of the largest extant Gothic architectural complexes in the world and the most frequented monument in the Pomorskie Region.
